Composition (per tablet):

  • Zinc Sulphate: 20 mg (equivalent to elemental zinc 4.4 mg)
  • L-Methyl Folate: 800 mcgDosage Form: Tablet

Indications

  • Prevention and treatment of zinc deficiency
  • Supplementation in folate deficiency
  • Support for growth and immune function in children
  • Pregnancy support to reduce neural tube defects and promote fetal development
  • Adjunct therapy in anemia due to folate deficiency

Dosage and Administration

Patient Group Recommended Dose Frequency
Adults 1 tablet Once daily, after food
Pregnant / Lactating Women 1 tablet Once daily, after food
Children (above 6 years, if advised by physician) ½ to 1 tablet Once daily
Note: Dosage should be adjusted by a healthcare professional based on deficiency status.

Mechanism of Action (MOA)

  • Zinc: Essential trace element required for enzyme function, immune modulation, wound healing, and growth. Corrects zinc deficiency.
  • L-Methyl Folate: Bioactive form of folic acid; participates in DNA synthesis, amino acid metabolism, and red blood cell formation. Supports fetal development and corrects folate deficiency.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to zinc, folate, or any component of the tablet
  • Patients with severe renal impairment (use zinc with caution)
  • Patients with known folate metabolism disorders (consult physician)

Warnings and Precautions

  • Zinc may reduce absorption of tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, and penicillamine. Separate dosing by at least 2 hours.
  • Folate may reduce efficacy of methotrexate and other antifolate drugs.

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects

  • Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort
  • Allergic reactions: Rash, itching (rare)
  • Other: Metallic taste, headache
    Management of ADRs:
  • Mild GI upset: Take with meals
  • Allergic reaction: Discontinue and seek medical advice
  • Severe symptoms: Hospitalization may be required

Drug Interactions

  • Zinc may reduce absorption of tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, and penicillamine. Separate dosing by at least 2 hours.
  • Folate may reduce efficacy of methotrexate and other antifolate drugs.

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C
  • Protect from light and moisture
  • Keep out of reach of children
