Indications

Ivix Syrup is indicated for:

  • Relief of cough and bronchial congestion
  • Support in respiratory tract conditions with thick mucus
  • Mild bronchospasm associated with chronic bronchitis or colds

Dosage and Administration

Adults:

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons, 3 times daily

4 years to adolescence:

  • 1 teaspoons , 3 times daily

1 to 4 years:

  • Half teaspoons , 3 times daily.

Administration Tips:

  • Shake well before use
  • Can be taken with or after meals
  • Use the measuring cup/spoon provided for accurate dosing

Mechanism of Action (MOA)

  • Ivy Leaf Extract: Contains saponins that act as expectorants, loosening mucus and facilitating its clearance from the airways
  • Licorice Extract: Acts as a demulcent and mild anti-inflammatory, soothing irritated mucous membranes in the respiratory tract
  • The combination supports airway clearance and reduces coughing frequency

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to ivy, licorice, or any component of the syrup
  • Patients with severe liver or kidney disease (consult physician before use)
  • Hypertension or heart disease (due to licorice, which can cause sodium retention and potassium loss)

Warnings and Precautions

  • Use caution in patients with high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, or diabetes
  • Licorice may interact with diuretics, corticosteroids, or antihypertensive medications
  • Not recommended for long-term use without medical supervision
  • Keep out of reach of children

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects

Common / Mild:

  • Nausea or mild stomach upset
  • Diarrhea or loose stools (rare)

Rare / Serious:

  • Allergic reactions: rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing
  • Hypokalemia (low potassium) with prolonged licorice use: muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, fluid retention

Handling Side Effects:

  • Stop syrup and inform healthcare provider if rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty occurs
  • Monitor for persistent gastrointestinal or cardiovascular symptoms

Storage

  • Store at room temperature (15–30°C)
  • Protect from light and moisture
